Tourism Ireland invited representatives of Donato Viagens, a leading Brazilian tour operator, to visit Ireland recently, to go on a fact finding trip around the country.
Mariana Barros and Fabio Meirelles were here to sample at first-hand the experiences on offer here for Brazilian holidaymakers. Following an itinerary designed by Fáilte Ireland, they took in some of our top visitor attractions including the National Library of Ireland (where they saw the Yeats exhibition), Trinity College, the Guinness Storehouse, Brú na Bóinne Visitor Centre, the Cliffs of Moher, Kilkenny Castle and Malahide Castle.
They also enjoyed a musical pub crawl in Dublin, a backstage tour of the Abbey Theatre and tried their hand at hurling at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny. They plan to produce a promotional video of their time in Ireland.
David Boyce, Tourism Ireland, said: “There is really no substitute for being able to come here and experience what Ireland has to offer at first-hand; our aim is that when these tour operators return home, they will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Ireland.”
