Thousands of people around Brazil are set to read all about Ireland, following the recent visit of six leading Brazilian journalists.

Carefully selected and invited here by Tourism Ireland, the journalists – from various travel and lifestyle newspapers, magazine and websites – were here to experience some of the many things to see and do on holiday here – and then write about them on their return home.

The journalists’ itinerary – designed by Fáilte Ireland – included a visit to Kylemore Abbey, as well as a guided walk in the Connemara National Park. They flew to Inis Mór – where they enjoyed a bus tour of the island and a stop at Dún Aengus.

Their itinerary also included a walking tour of Galway city, a tour of the Kilbeggan Distillery and visits to the Book of Kells and the Little Museum of Dublin.

Jim Paul, Tourism Ireland’s head of Australia and developing markets, said: “While visitor numbers from markets like Brazil are small right now, when compared to our more established tourism markets, it is important to remember that visitors from long-haul markets spend more than the average visitor and typically stay longer than visitors from closer to home.”
