Beer Review: 8 Degrees – Hurricane IPA

Last year, 8 Degrees launched two beers as a special release. The idea was to get public opinion; so it was intended to be the same base beer but with different hops. Hurricane used northern hemisphere hops and Cyclone used southern hemisphere hops. The winner appears to have been Hurricane which has now been re-released. The original was a little stronger at 7% however this new version is 5.8%.

Expect an explosion of tropical fruits as well as strong citrus. A little mango and a lot of lime, grapefruit and pine resin. The body is big and chewy to balance the hops. It’s a fantastic beer from the bottle and on draught.
