Dublin’s Bar 1661, recently named Ireland’s best cocktail bar at the Craft Cocktail Awards, is hosting a series of cocktail demos every Monday from mid January until mid February.
The first class, taking place at 7pm on Monday 13th January, will see the mixologists at Bar 1661 collabrate with Lot 40 Canadian Rye Whisky.
As savoury, classic cocktails have become more fashionable, rye has stepped into the spotlight as an ingredient that adds earth and spice rather than sweetness. It also has a rich history – after the American revolution, rye whisky production dramatically increased as people wanted to distill with their own farmed ingredients and move away from the more British drink that was rum.
In Ireland, Lot 40 Rye Whisky was launched in October 2019.
Running from 7pm – 8pm every Monday from January 13th to February 10th (except January 27th when staff are getting their well deserved Christmas party) guests will be invited to a demo where they will be shown how to make their own old fashioned and enjoy another from the bar.
Each ticket will cost €16.61 and includes two cocktails and the demo. Throughout each night, blues guitarist NC Lawlor will be performing to further enhance the atmosphere.
