Presenters from six of America’s most popular radio stations visited island of Ireland recently, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
Their combined audience of around 16m listeners were kept up to date with the radio presenters’ travels via social media.
During their visit, the group visited sites such as the Burren, Kate’s Cottage in The Claddagh, Westport House, Slieve League and the Glencolmcille Folk Village Museum. Along the way they conducted interviews with local tourism operators and personalities, with the interviews set to air later in April.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America and Australia, said: “We were delighted to invite these radio presenters to visit the island of Ireland. Their interviews will be heard by around 16m people across the US – helping us to spread the word among American travellers about things to see and do on a vacation in Ireland.
“In 2019, Tourism Ireland aims to surpass the record-breaking performance of 2018 and to grow revenue from North American visitors by 8% to €1.99bn, generated by 2.17m visitors.”
