The Calveys of Achill have opened a new farm store at their HQ in Keel on Achill Island, Co. Mayo.
The family, who produce the multi-award-winning Achill Mountain Lamb, Hogget and Mutton at their on-farm abattoir and butchers, decided to open the store to showcase their own meats and hampers and a host of Irish artisan products.
Local jams, breads, sea salt and honey are on the shelves along with other products from across the island. They include Sheridan’s Cheese, chutneys and crackers, St Tola Goat’s Cheese, Kylemore Farmhouse Cheese, White Mausu condiments, Foods of Athenry, Inch House Black Pudding, Da Piero pizza bases, the Sea Hare, Berna salad dressings and Janet’s Just Delicious sauces.
“We picked products that staycationers and shoppers could take home to have for lunch or dinner. The only criteria were that they were Irish, artisan and delicious,” said Helen Calvey.
There is also a selection of soft drinks in store such as Con Traas’s apple juice.
Opening hours are 8am to 6pm seven days a week.
