A total of 13 restaurants operated by London-based grab-and-go breakfast, lunch and coffee chain Pod have been sold to Azzurri Group.
The sale came after Pod, which last year made a loss of £487,000 (€544,500) on sales of £17.4m (€19.5m), went into a pre-pack administration on Friday 21st June.
A further nine stores are set to close as a result of the administration. Azzurri Group, which runs restaurant chains Zizzi, Ask, and Coco di Mama, reportedly paid a cut-price £2.7m (€3m) for the rest of the business.
Damian Webb, one of the joint administrators from RSM Restructuring Advisory, said: “The sale of Pod Foods secures over 170 jobs and ensures the on-going trading of the core Pod business. Regrettably this process has led to the closure of nine stores, resulting in 90 redundancies. We will be working closely with the redundancy payments service to assist these employees.”
