Dunmore House Hotel has been awarded the title of Irish National Wedding Venue of the Year at the inaugural Irish Wedding Awards 2017.
The Clonakilty-based four star hotel is a third generation family business, currently owned and run by husband and wife team Richard and Carol Barrett.
Nominated for the best Wedding Venue in the South West, Dunmore House Hotel was competiting with Parknasilla Resport & Spa (Sneem), Ballinacurra House (Kinsale), Ballygarry House Hotel & Spa (Tralee) and the Hayfield Manor Hotel (Cork). Dunmore then went on to win overall wedding venue of the year later in the evening.
Dunmore House Hotel proprietor, Carol Barrett, commented: “Words cannot express how thrilled and honoured we are to accept these amazing awards. We were delighted to have been nominated among these other gorgeous and deserving venues, so to take home not only the award for our region, but the coveted national title is a dream come true.”
The Wedding Awards is a well-established event in Scotland, Northern Ireland and England, and has just celebrated its inaugural year in Ireland. The black tie ceremony was held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Dublin, during which 21 winners were announced. Hundreds of entries were received across a range of local and national categories, including Wedding Venue of the Year, Wedding Boutique of the Year and Florist of the Year.
30 hotels were nominated for Wedding Venue of the Year across six regional categories: Borders, West, Midlands, Dublin, South East and South West. This final shortlist was determined by public vote and was then left in the hands of the awards judging panel, who collectively made the final decision on who took home the trophies.
